Synopsis
Inspired by Mickey Guyton’s song of the same name, “Heaven Down Here” tells the story of four disparate people who find themselves stranded in a local diner on Christmas Eve when a snowstorm hits the town. Imani is a widowed mother of two who’s having trouble making ends meet and reluctantly agrees to work the Christmas Eve shift, where she clashes with her boss Dan, who doesn’t exactly embody the Christmas spirit. Felix is a local pastor desperately trying to secure food for parishioners while his faith is challenged by his son's alienation. Clara is a hospice nurse with an obstinate patient and whose daughter is moving away, causing her to question her place in this world. Throughout the evening, these four bicker, bond and unwittingly provide each other with the answer to their respective prayers.

i was excited to watch this because i had a feeling i’d really like it and i was right! i really did love this. i loved the storyline and thought it was different from most hallmark plots. the characters were all great and interesting and i ended up loving them all. especially felix. he was such a warm
and comforting character and i absolutely loved him. his acting when he visits his son was heartwarming and definitely a tear jerker. he’s so talented. also as a christian myself, i really enjoyed the theme of that being prevalent in this movie so that made me get into it even more. the diner was also so cozy and even though they at… -

Refreshing to have a different kind of narrative even if there’s a bit too much Christianity in this for me. Great cast. Brown really carries this and brings weight to what could be a really goofy (if utterly predictable) twist in the last act. Rashād does a lot with a little and Lifford brings a needed unpredictability. Love the hot priest, but you can feel that actor and Brown trying to figure out how to keep their chemistry platonic. Also appreciate that this lets the fucking Broadway singer actually sing. I’m so traumatized by that Megan Hilty Lifetime one that didn’t that I never trust these until a song actually starts.

Not one of the worst Christmas tv movies. It is sappy but earns some of its emotional feel good tears. Still...we don't need another Christmas movie.

Hallmark sure does love a "these people are related!" twist don't they?
I found most of this movie pretty awful and then the last 10 minutes made me tear up which I FULLY blame on my PMS.
Liked that even though there were romantic vibes between the priest and Imani they kept it platonic and didn't end with a kiss.

A feel-good Christmas movie about connection, family, and a bit more...
definitely predictable, but still heart-warming! -

I liked this so much more than I thought I would. The acting was great and the story was good. A bit melodramatic sometimes - like the waitress getting stiffed on her tip and all of her tips being stolen. But I really enjoyed this and it wasn’t a downer like I expected. Something really different for hallmark!

I wasnt expecting to like this cause im not into the religious themes and I havent gotten through all the 2023 christmas movies yet, but it is safe to say this is the clear winner of 2023 holiday movies. Great Cast and great performances, Story is lovely. Perfect Chrstmas Movie. Also it was great seeing Phylicia Rashad.

This was an uplifting and faith based movie about family, found family, friendship, holiday spirit, and dare I say a tiny bit of romance that’s heavily implied. The cast was fantastic and how awesome to see Phylicia Rashad, Tina Lifford and Krystal Joy Brown. Speaking of Krystal, she needs to be a lead in more Hallmark movies—I can think at least 10 Hallstar leading men she could be paired with. And kudos to Hallmark for giving her 2 songs in this. I hope they’re recorded too. I just saw her on Broadway in Merrily We Roll Along and she is a force. Another winner from HMM this year.

This was a character driven movie that I really liked. The acting was great and the characters were all sympathetic and believable. A little slow moving but I’m glad I stuck with it.
